Olympic National Park Coast and Makah Reservation
The verdant rain forest valleys and vibrant coastline of Olympic National Park and the Makah Reservation are home to some of the most mystical places in the Western United States. The temperate rain forests of Western North America have the highest biomass of any ecosystem on earth, even more than equatorial tropical rain forests. The west-side valleys of the Olympic Peninsula, which in some areas receive over 150 inches of rain per year, are a prime example of this ecosystem. The coastline of the peninsula also has the least-developed and most dramatic beaches in the contiguous United States.
